Aunt Alice in Arabia
Gulf Newspaper Weekend Magazine, Dubai, UAE. 1989-1991.
Columns of 350 words about living and teaching in the UAE
as a single woman after teaching two years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and six months in Jakarta, Indonesia

Teaching Ideas and Materials
Includes fun and games as well as ideas to make teaching
more helpful, including the difficulties of teaching writing

Cultures
Various ideas about different cultures, such as Asia appears to be a master-slave relationship at home, work, and through-out its culture. This promotes sleep deprivation as a skill rather than the manipulative culture control mechanisms it is of its citizens. Additionally, freedom and sexism in Muslim cultures are compared to the same problems in the USA and the West

BOOKS – The Autobiography of My DNA & Other Fictions
This book begins with dictated stories typed as my inner voice told it to me. This process was discouraged in graduate writing school, probably because it frightened professors and may have bordered on psychosis. The Other Fictions are short stories I wrote over my lifetime, such as two for nieces, “Susanne Learns to Read. Other stories have more adult themes, such as “It’s Adultery.”

Life Skills
Topics such as activities young people need to learn as they grow into adulthood

Health & Old Age
“What the Gerontologist Didn’t Tell Me” is what I learned first
hand about ageing, despite reading extensively, after an
expensive but basically useless visit to a gerontologist.

This photo was selected because it is important for older people to moisturize their skin to stay healthy. Healthy skin protects against invading bacteria. Almond oil is an excellent choice I use, as well as The Body Shop’s creams with shea butter and argan oil, expecially for the bottoms of my feet.
